1981 Addicks Advertisement

This ad appeared in an early 1981 issue of “Bicycle Motocross Action”. I include it because it is a good shot of the bike. The model could be a 1980 since it appeared in a very early 81 issue of the magazine.

1977 Advertisements

The below advertisement talks about the “new” SR frame. This appeared in the August 1977 issue of Bicycle Motocross Action. That would indicate the bike came out in 1977. The ad also says the bike was tested for three years? Meaning they built the first prototype in 1975.

1978 Powerlite stem

This stem appears to be identical to the DG stem except the decals. It is unclear what colors this stem came in. The Everything Bicycles ad this was in shows the stem in polished aluminum.

1979 Everything Bicycles Advertisement

This shows the bottom half of the full page ad for Everything Bicycles. The top half featured Torker bikes. Everything Bicycles was a large distributor located down the street from BMX Action. This may have been the first ad showing Powerlite in living color.

1978 Powerlite Advertisements

These may be some of the earliest Powerlite ads. Note the 78 frames said Peddlepower and not Powerlite on the downtube and headtube decals.

New website covers the old days of Powerlite

This website is dedicated to the first 10 years of Powerlite before it was merged with GT Bicycles.  I read in the forum people had trouble finding information on Powerlite so I ccreated this site. The first time I went into a bike shop to build a race bike, I walked out with Sal Zeuner’s  MCS Z1 and  set of Peddlepower forks, both in white. My mom took pictures of me on the bike, but they are at my step moms house and I probably will never see them again.

Please feel free to submit any pictures (scans) you may have and info.
