Models (Pre GT)
Jr. [17.5" Top Tube]
Pro
Pro 24″
26″ (3-Bar)

**I think thats it. If I ever find test scans from the magazines for Powerlite I will ad them for each model.

Early Powerlites ’77-78 had square brake bridges.
’79 and later had a slotted brake bridge.
It seems both the Pro and Jr. were available with Euro BB’s
Correct me if Im wrong on that.
Jrs. cam stock with Euro BB and Pro was an option.
1977-81 bike had a front gusset with hole.
1982 and on they dropped the gusset.

Again feel free to add to this.

I have a powerlight bike that says Highschool on it. Does anyone know anything about this bike? Age, worth or really anything.
    Thanks

    • May 3, 2011 at 3:37 am

Pictures are needed. It could be an actually late model when they made Freestyle bikes. Or Highschool could just be a sticker, as in fact could any Powerlite stickers on it. Try the BMX Museum or Vintage BMX and post pictures asking for help IDing. Worth will only get you booed. Its worth what people are willing to pay, to get max value sell it on eBay but shipping will cost a bit. So often complete bikes sell better on Craigslist. If its a modern bike it wont be worth too much.

i got a powerlite black bike dont know make i got a seial number YC96060161

Its almost certainly a 1996 model.
Other then that would need to see pictures of it and top tube lengths etc to narrow down the model. They made both AL and 4130 frames even.

CurIous what year this Powerlite is? Serial #05970341

  16. April 29, 2012 at 11:32 pm

Not sure , cant tell a model from the serial number usually. If it has a P stamped on it that would be good or an XL. If it has canti mounts etc then it probably is a 97. I think all the bikes by then except maybe the lowest models had canti mounts. To lazy to look. Generally speaking the higher the number the better the model.
A P51 is better bike then a P19 for example without looking to be sure lol.
Powerlite never really made a bad bike, but none of them command too much money when sold. It also depends on its parts etc.
