If you know of any that are missing or details like the state they are from (or were) and the years they raced for Powerlite feel free to leave a comment. Thanks in advance for contributing.
I rode for PeddlePower Cyclery starting in 75 and retired in 78 (12-15 year old expert class. I was one of the original test riders for the new Powerlite frames. I believe I was one of 4 people that had one (Mark Rink, Steve Skibel, Racker Calderon.
I remember Dan Loftus back in 75, he rode for Steve Rink and the Peddle power team before they moved the shop a few doors over… (on the other side of the golf shop) Dan also tested one of the first FMF frames and busted it in half…
I used to ride WSA & Corona all the time.. A few times I carpooled with Stevie Skibel & his dad to the corona track.. Fun times!! Me and Mark Rink used to ride around in the parking lot in front of peddle power/powerlite shop.. They used to rent 3 wheelers and had a “swing bike” which was spring loaded in the middle.. Have to see it to understand it… I raced for 3 years 75 to 78. Most of the races were at WSA.. But the last year 1977 I traveled with Steve Rink on several tracks with Mark & Kenny.. I still have over 200 trophys.. I had the 3rd powerlite frame that steve hand made in the shop. He powder coated it gloss black.. I should of preserved it, instead I gave it to my oldest son 12 years ago.. It got stolen.. Steve gave me the frame to race on in 76. I raced on it all of 76 & 77.. I ended up #13 overall in the NBA grand nationals.. I got a lot of stories to tell… LOL
Chris Franklin . . .
Steve Rink visits this bloq from time to time. I live now within walking distance of WSA and Peddlepower’s old location.
NBA National #13 in 1977?
Did you ever get a ABA membership or IBMX back in those days? I have never seen a newspaper or points from either sanction.

I remember Steve Venard raced for them back in the 80s he was a grate rider won a lot, wone the Gold cup in 85 and went on to race sprint cars! he was big PowerLite Guy.
I raced with Powerlite under my brothers shadow from 1984 to 1985, I wish i would have turned Pro when Steve Rink asked me to, but i guess i had the jitters about racing my brothers competition lol, besides i was doin ok as a local hotshot in 16-17 expert class, Those memories are the best thing that ever happened to me in my life. Just wana thank Steve and Mark for all the fun.
Hey thanks for taking the time to comment. I met your brother just a few times, including at his shoe store in Fullerton BITD. Got any pictures of your racing or old bikes etc, I will gladly post them to the website.
Hey, My name is Todd Cress. I rode for Powerlite from 1981 to 1984. Tony Luke also rode for powerlite during that time, although I think he was with them before me.
Awesome Todd. The glory days of BMX. Did you get a co ride thru a bike shop? If so which one?
